About this book

Music is everywhere at Christmas—chart-toppers, carols, children's tunes… Alistair Begg takes us to four songs that were sung by people at the very first Christmas (and his favourite carol).

In this short, winsome book a teenage girl, a respected priest, a group of angels and an old man bring readers to the heart of Christmas, showing them the joy and peace that comes from meeting a baby who lay in the food trough and changed eternity.

This short, engaging, evangelistic book is perfect for giving away to non-Christian friends, family and church guests.

Endorsements

I believe that many rock lyricists think they are screaming at God, when they are really screaming out for Him. Alistair Begg connects Biblical song writing to modern song writing to make his illustrations come alive.

Alice Cooper Rock Star

Alistair Begg has done what I honestly thought was no longer possible - he's made me excited about Christmas - really excited! This year I can't wait to get this book to my neighbours and, because he's emigrated, I can't wait to preach it around London.

Rico Tice Founder, Christianity Explored Ministries

Christmas is a great time to share the gospel with the people you love, and Alistair’s book is a great way to help you do it.

This compelling invitation to go beyond the usual Christmas hustle and hassle should be required reading every December.

This short book takes us to the heart of the Christmas message in the best way possible—by taking us to the heart of The Gospel account.  It is clear, engaging and centred on the person and work of Jesus. It is a magnificent resource for use in follow up to the numerous opportunities that Christmas offers to make Jesus known.

William Taylor Rector, St Helen’s Church, Bishopsgate

If you have time to read one book this December, make sure it is this one. Alistair Begg writes with depth and yet is completely understandable. He will make the real story of Christmas come alive to you.

Greg Laurie Senior Pastor of Harvest Christian Fellowship, CA

Alistair Begg has done us a great service by transforming profound theological truths into refreshingly understandable principles. After reading Christmas Playlist I found myself being more grateful for the gospel. If you’re looking for a way to refocus on what’s most important about Christmas, or to share it with others, you’ve just found it.

Skip Heitzig Senior Pastor of Calvary Albuquerque

In the space of a few chapters Alistair has skilfully used the songs which herald the birth of Jesus to clearly set out who he is and why he came. Nothing is assumed yet everything is explained in a compelling and winsome way. This is definitely a book to include on your Christmas list for family and friends who are not yet believers. Churches, too, will find it a helpful book to offer to those attending carol services or other evangelistic events.

David Johnston Minister of Hamilton Road Presbyterian Church

“If only I had something to give my friends and family at Christmas. Something that explained the ‘real meaning’ of Christmas without cliche. Something that was biblical, contemporary and well-written."  Well, now you do.  Alistair Begg’s little book about the Christmas songs from the Gospel of Luke is an ideal gift to give to anyone who needs to know the Christ whose time it is.

David Robertson David Robertson is an evangelist, podcaster and writer working with churches in Sydney, Australia.

A wonderful treat!   Like sipping coffee, with familiar--and some new--Christmas music playing in the background, while a best friend explains what it actually means. So sit down for a while with Alistair Begg. By the time you get up you will understand why, from the very beginning, people have written songs about Christmas and wanted to sing them.  And you may have received the best Christmas present ever!

If you ve never read Alistair Begg books you are missing out on a sound, interesting, contemporary style peppered with a lively sense of humour.
This book is a great heart warmer as we step into the months leading up to Christmas, focusing on the songs in the bible that are on the nativity.
Can be used as a single or group devotional. Highly recommend this short gem.
