This seven-session Bible study on selected psalms by Christopher Ash and Alison Mitchell explores how the Psalms point us to Jesus.
With examples from all five books of the Psalter, discover how the Psalms were sung by Jesus and fulfilled by Jesus, and how this transforms the way we read them, enjoy them and sing them ourselves, as we join the King's choir.
Each session will draw you to look closely at the Bible text and apply it meaningfully to your everyday life. The guide includes questions that open up discussion, optional personal reflections and a concise Leader’s Guide.
Flexible and easy to use, Good Book Guides are perfect for both groups and individuals.

It's often hard to find a good small group study to do. I've done two of these Good Book Guides now and I think these are an excellent option. I did them as a solo study but it's geared more for small groups with a leader's guide included in the back. The questions are reflective and conducive for discussion and it has good application as well.
In this Psalms study they covered nine different Psalms and I loved the way ...they connected Old Testament and New Testament Scriptures and showed ways the psalms pointed to Jesus, the better King.
Would definitely recommend this particular book and this series for solo or group use. It's Scripture/Gospel-centric and accessible for any range of group.
Looking forward to doing another one.

This is a fantastic Bible study book. The description of it being "accessible" is spot on. The questions strike an ideal balance between reading comprehension and application. The set reading for each study is a healthy chunk, but not overwhelming, and it's great to be able to engage with God's Word by actively answering the book's questions.

This is a study on a few select psalms. Each of the 7 sessions has the following format as well as a dictionary for some of the key words.
Talkabout: ice breaker for groups or getting your thoughts going if doing alone
Investigate: explore the passage
Apply: practical questions
Explore more: go deeper
Getting Personal: personal reflection
Pray: prayer
There’s a leader’s guide in the second half of the book to facilitate group discussions. There’s also a map at the beginning as well as some context for why to study the psalms.
This is a clear and concise study guide. It offers very little commentary or context, but can be used as a companion to the commentary “Psalms for You”. I do appreciate the separation of these as I can tend to focus more easily on the commentary than the actual verses when they are together. This study allows me to wrestle with Scripture on my own before immediately turning to a commentary. I think this approach helps me to actually learn better than reading the verses with the commentary before approaching the questions.
I enjoy the simplicity to the study guide with how each session is laid out. It can easily be done on its own for individual study, but is also set up to be great for groups. The leader’s guide in the back equips even the most inexperienced leader to do well. These are targeted for adults, but I am even thinking about using them in our homeschooling in our preteen/teen years with the kids.
I received a complimentary copy as a reviewer and all opinions shared are my own.
