A book for anyone who enjoys sport. Discover how the gospel transforms our thinking, our playing and our watching.
Millions of us love sport: playing, supporting watching. But have you ever thought about how your love for sport connects with your love for Jesus?
Some of us feel a bit guilty for loving sport so much, especially when there are so many other ways in which we could be using our time to serve God. Others see it simply as a great way to share the gospel (while having fun). And many of us have never really thought about it at all!
This book will show you what the Bible says. You’ll discover a more liberating approach than feeling a bit guilty, a deeper approach than seeing sport as only an evangelistic opportunity, and a better approach than not linking your faith and your love of sport at all.
Starting with asking why God created sport in the first place, Spiritual Game Plan explores how the gospel impacts and transforms the way we think and play. You'll discover how to enjoy your sport even more as you let God shape your perspective; and see how he can use your sport to grow and shape you as his follower.
Includes lots of stories from sportspeople from elite to everyday, as well as chapters for specific areas of sporting life, such as sport on Sundays. In addition to teaching for players, there is advice for parents, coaches and fans.
A great gift for Christians who love sport as well as a useful resource for sports ministries, including summer camps and Christian teams.

Sport dominates our cultural landscape. It’s a gift, not a god. Spiritual Game Plan is a great little book for those who love sport and love Jesus, and want to relate these two loves in an ordered rather than disordered way. Recommended.
A must-read for any Christian athlete. Graham and Jonny do a brilliant job of encouraging us back to a foundation of knowing the treasure of Christ and who we are in him. May this bring you restored freedom to play your sport to the best of the abilities God has given you—for his glory and your delight.
I’m rubbish at sport. But still, I love sport. Like millions of others, I struggle to put this amazing gift of God in its right box. My new favourite doubles pairing, Graham and Jonny, have done us all a great service by showing how sport can be enjoyed and cherished without being idolised. This book is a great and challenging read for every sportsperson or sport-lover. I understand myself a little better now, and I love my Saviour a whole heap more.
Those of us who play sports sometimes need a bit of support as to how we do faith and sport together without compromising one! We want to be competitive, but we also want to live out our faith... what does that look like? Well, I've always found the advice of "Christians in Sport" really helpful, and this new book by Graham Daniels (Christians in Sport Director) and Jonny Reid from Oak Hill is an excellent primer on the subject. I'll be passing it on to a friend I have in our local rugby team as I think this will open his eyes to the connection between his Saturday afternoon hobby and his new and exciting faith!
Good service - reasonable prices.
This book is so helpful for taking a biblical understanding of creation and humanity and applying that to competing, coaching and even watching sport. It addresses some of the really hard to answer questions we find in sport, and has tons of helpful quotes from interviews with top sportspeople alongside Graham and Jonny's insight gained from years of working within sport. It's easy to read, cover to cover or just dipping into the chapters - great work.
Spiritual Game Plan by Graham Daniels and Jonny Reid (The Good Book Company)
The Bible has a lot to say about our sporting lives – how sport fits into our daily rhythms and is part of the goodness of God’s creation. Danno (Graham) and Jonny, both with a long involvement with Christians in Sport, share in a winsome way from their own lives but also from those of other sports’ people, both the famous and the ordinary. This short book (154 pages) is full of practical and down to earth teaching – and not only for those who compete. There are chapters devoted to fans, to parents and to coaches and the authors don’t shy away from the contentious issue (for many Christians) of playing sport on Sundays. Most of all, here is a book which considers how our faith can be shaped and nurtured by sport and how, in the words of the book’s sub-title, we can ‘compete with Joy and Godliness’.
