Christmas is meant to be full of joy and light; but all too often it is spoiled by grumbling and arguing. So this year, prepare to encounter Christ afresh in a way that will make you a bearer of peace and goodwill all season long.
In these 24 short daily readings for Advent, Tim Chester peels back the layers on Philippians 2. Each day includes ideas for reflection, prayer and application, designed to excite you about the One True Gift—the Lord Jesus—in the run-up to Christmas Day.
This collection of inspiring readings also comes with hymns, carols and prayers to help you prepare your heart for Christmas.

I found this book had a slightly different approach as Tim Chester based each daily passage of readings on verses from Philippians which summarised thought provoking aspects of the nature and affect of Christ’s Birth as a Babe in a lowly manger, rather than a set of passages directly describing different stages of th actual historical story. The Biblical story was there so well described.

Bought this book for myself and a friend so we could use it over advent and share our thoughts. It's been amazing and we've both found it challenging but encouraging to work through. Nearly finished now and can honestly say it's been fantastic.

We read these together as a family (kids are 8&10). They were very thought provoking & resulted in wonderful discussions. Our girls actually got more excited about the readings than their advent calendar treats.
The chapters would be a bit long & complex for younger kids & are more suited to adults unless you are prepared to discuss & explain them, but they are itterative, and build logically upon each other.
I don't recommend trying to digest more than one ...chapter a day though, as you are likely to miss some of the deapth & beauty.
