Description

Fun lift-the-flap board book that motivates small children to use their feet in a Christ-like way.

This helpful and engaging training tool will help parents to teach their kids that God didn’t make their feet to kick or stomp but for positive actions like running, dancing, swimming and jumping!

Not only will children be encouraged to follow Jesus’ example but they’ll also be reassured that he loves us no matter what we do. He can forgive us when we fail and help us to change.

This book is part of a series called Training Young Hearts, which addresses the attitudes of the heart that underpin behaviour and explains how the gospel of grace enables us to change.

Parents, teachers and other loved ones can refer back to these resources when specific behaviours need both to be corrected and to be connected to forgiveness, grace and growth.

One of the most important ways we can train young children is to teach them what is right as well as teach them what is wrong. In the Training Young Hearts series Abbey Wedgeworth faithfully shows children how to live while also telling them the good news of God’s grace. These board books are such an engaging (and fun!) way to teach big truths to young hearts.

These engaging books will not only instruct kids but parents too, by equipping both with training refrains based in biblical truths. Abbey has provided us with an incredible tool to help us clearly and intentionally communicate with our kiddos in a way that points to them to Jesus.

“Theology that Kids WANT to Read”

There are lots of books with good theological content on the market for kids these days, but not all of it is engaging. My toddler loves this series and even asks to read these on repeat. Plus referencing this book when providing discipline and correction has been such a helpful tool to use our feet like Jesus used his feet.

“Teaches Little Ones to Walk Worthy”

I received What Are Feet For? compliments of The Good Book Company in exchange for my honest review.

What Are Feet For? is the latest installment in the Training Young Hearts series by Abbey Wedgeworth. This book helps children understand how to use their feet in ways that honor God and teaches them that God did not make their feet for sinful purposes such as kicking things out of anger or walking away from their parents.

It teaches little ones the gospel message by reminding them that Jesus used His feet to walk in obedience to God. And because Jesus obeyed God, there's hope for all who have placed their hope for salvation in Him. One of my favorite aspects of this series is that each book mentions all three members of the Trinity. While reading this book, I couldn't help but think of Isaiah 52:7 which states:

How beautiful upon the mountains
are the feet of him who brings good news,
who publishes peace, who brings good news of happiness,
who publishes salvation,
who says to Zion, “Your God reigns.”

We love What Are Feet For? and can't wait to read the next book in this series!

“Guiding Little Feet with Big, Timeless Truths”

What Are Feet For? by Abbey Wedgeworth is a delightful introduction to biblical obedience for the tiniest of readers. With its vibrant illustrations by Emma Randall and engaging lift-the-flap design (even in digital form, the concept is a winner), this board book is a joy to explore with kids aged 1–4.

The writing is simple and approachable, simple enough for toddlers, but layered with truths to grow into. I love how the book uses everyday moments—running, jumping, dancing—to connect little ones with the big truths of God’s Word. It invites kids to see their feet as tools for glorifying God through joyful, purposeful actions.

The gentle prompts naturally lead to discussions about other ways we can follow Jesus in our daily lives. It’s a resource that grows with your child, sparking comments, questions, and connections as they learn and mature.

Wedgeworth and Randall have created a book that’s a tool for nurturing little hearts. Whether you’re reading this during playtime or bedtime, What Are Feet For? is bound to become a family fun favorite.

If you’re looking for a Christ-centered, age-appropriate way to encourage obedience motivated by love and grace, this is it.

Highly recommend this one for every young family’s library!

“Great for Littles”

Thank you @thegoodbookcompanyusa for a #gifted copy.

I’m excited to share this new children’s book with you. With flaps scattered throughout, and it being a board book, it’s a cute one for young kids and toddlers.

It’s a fun story that exemplifies how we can use our feet for God, and had so many great examples. Though I thought one part may have been just a hair advanced for littles, overall I thought it was a great book with fantastic examples.

I loved how it all pointed to God, and encouraged kids to use their feet for his purpose. I thought it was fun and had a great message!

Check it out if you’re looking for a Christian book for your toddler. I’m excited to read it with my kids, and to collect the whole series!

I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book, received from @thegoodbookcompanyusa . However, all thoughts and views reflected are strictly my own opinions.

“Another favourite in this series!”

Abbey's "Training Young Heart" series has been such a great blessing to our family and church! I love reading Abbey's training refrains and wise words on Instagram. Her books have been enjoyed not only by my toddler, but also my 5 and 7 year olds, and even ourselves as parents - the scenarios and struggles are relatable, but at the same time the hope we can have in Jesus to find forgiveness and help to change is immensely encouraging! This series is such a wonderful resource to equip parents and teachers to disciple children in the ways of the Lord. I cannot recommend these books enough!

“Lovely Board Book”

We love this series for giving away at church and for building a library for our future children too. They’re so clearly speaking of the gospel and are perfectly pitched for the youngest readers too. This newest volume is a lovely addition and there are some great “open the flap” features in this one. Would definitely recommend!

“Another winner in this fabulous series!”

These lift-the-flap books are SO practical and always tie in the gospel message, making them some of our most favorite board books for littles!

This book encourages children to use their feet to run, dance, swim and jump! But it also shares how Jesus calls us to use our feet to spread his good news.

This series has been so useful in addressing certain behaviors in our home as it simply conveys what our body parts should and shouldn’t be used for.

So grateful for this series!

I received a review copy of this book. All opinions are my own.

“Our Favorite Board Book Series!!!”

"Jesus did not run away from God's plan but walked toward his death because he loves me!" Four Reasons I Love this series:
(1) It's reminds my kids they are made by God! (2) It gives a contrast of positive and negative behaviors with a quick correction. (3) It points them to Christ! (4) It teaches repentance! And this one reminds them of the Great Commission:
"My feet were made to carry the good news about Jesus everywhere I go!" HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

“So needed for little ones!”

With a toddler in our house this book has come in handy MANY times. Teaching our little ones is tough, especially those toddler years. I love this book for teaching my son how to use his feet to bring glory to Jesus! It’s wonderful to teach lessons to our youngest about how they can use their bodies to worship.
I’m so thankful for this beautiful book that helps me as a mama teach even my youngest about how to follow Jesus.
He loves the lift the flap and shows me the mad faces and how we can make them happy again! It’s a sweet book to have on your shelf.

“Simple beauty of the gospel!”

We just love this series!! It’s just perfect for my toddlers, both in book design and in content it teaches.
Using simple language, each book communicates deep truths about the purpose God has made various parts of our bodies for - to glory Him and show love to others!

In a unique way, it shows how we do not fulfill God’s design perfectly but how Jesus did on our behalf. And so when we fail, we turn to Him for forgiveness. Even in simplicity, I am struck with the beauty of the gospel it communicates.

As a parent, I am so thankful for resources that help support our goal to point our kids towards the wonderful of Christ.

Thank you to the Good Book Company for the gifted copy in exchange for an honest review. Thoughts and opinions are entirely my own.
