This edition of Engage looks at Psalms, John, Genesis, Amos, Colossians and Jonah.

Description

The first issue of Engage - daily Bible reading notes for teenagers. This issue looks at Psalms, John, Genesis, Amos, Colossians and Jonah!

It also examines questions like 'has Science disproved Christianity?', 'what's the bible anyway?' and contains articles on the Trinity and looking after the planet.

Engage exists to help you plug into your Bible. Through Engage's pages we want to plunge into God's awesome word: discovering who God is and what He's like; seeing what God's done for us through Jesus; and exploring practical ways of living for Him. The Bible is packed with amazing stories and life-changing teaching. It's time to dive into the Bible and see God change our lives...

Other information

'There is a huge need for this resource!  Most daily reading material is of a more devotional nature where a passage is read and someone has written comments on what it means and how we live accordingly. But Engage actually engages young people in scripture and helps them explore and discover the meaning themselves.'
- Dave Wright, Coordinator for Youth Ministries, Diocese of South Carolina

What teenagers are saying about Engage...

'Engage made deep Biblical truths simple and easy to understand'

Helpful starter for church kids who are bored with 'samey bible reading notes"

Get these for the 10-14 year olds to help them get into regular bible reading. Enthusiastic uptake and we are now into week 7 and still going strong. Girls seem to like the extension section at the back which allows them to dive deeper into the passages.

personal use or small group use

Great for personal use, or also in a small group setting. Occasionally pushes some conservative/evangelical theological points that aren't natural to the text (this is coming from an evangelical!), but overall it is very good!

Great Aid for Teens!

Great wee book, encourages you to read about 15 verses per night and has helpful summaries and prayer guides. Also explains the key points of the verses read to further your knowledge. If you are still wanting more there are several more verses to read on the subject which can be found at the back. Is relevant to situations teenagers (like myself) face everyday. At £4 it is a bargain as you get about 90 days worth per book. Can't wait to receive the next issue!

Engage is very encouraging to read and easy to understand, especially for young Christians, prehaps maybe if you write another engage you could leave enough space one each page so we could actually write in the book itself. overall excellent, this will be not be the last time i buy engage, and will be certainity recommend this to my christian friends, great job!

Hits the right notes with my 13 yr old...

Having completed all the XTB study books with my 13 yr old we had to progress to something else. She'd really enjoyed XTB and was reluctant to move away from that style of study. However, now we've got into it 'Engage' has got a real thumbs up from her.

Really enjoyable and helpful

Although I find some of Engage a bit tricky at times (as I am only 7 years old) I really love doing it, normally with my Mum or Dad, and it really helps me to read the Bible. I would recomend it to others who want to spend some daily time reading the Bible for thmselves.

Excellent, easy access notes

I purchased these notes for a 21 year old brand new Christian to help her start to learn how to read her Bible. They are excellent, giving clear guidance on how to read the Bible effectively and questions at just the right level.
Basic, but sound - ideal for teens or young adults who are new to Bible study.

Brilliant!

I'm 31 and have been a Christian for as long as I can remember, and I love using Engage for my own quiet time.

Having been a Christian a long time they aren't especially useful for in-depth Bible Study. They are basic in some ways, however I don't think that this limits them to a particular age group.

What they are brilliant for is:
-A morning quiet time where you haven't got ages to be able to go in-depth
-Simplifying the context and background for the more obscure books in the Bible
-Picking out the main points of complex passages (rather than necessarily combing through every verse)
-Grounding you in a rounded understanding of the gospel and its implications for your life
-Active engagement with the Bible, through questions
-Incredibly hallenging application of the Bible to daily life (probably the most useful aspects of Engage from my perspective)

The fact that it is basic in some ways doesn't devalue it in any way for anyone, regardless of how mature in the Christian faith. You might just want to think about doing engage plus some other form of more in-depth study.

I really feel confident that if I give engage to young people I work with, that it will help them to be changed by God's word.
