“great resource”

This book is part of the Little Me Big God series and includes eight of Williams original story books.

Each story could easily be used as a quick and engaging devotional with young kids. The writing is easy, simple and rhythmic. The author does a great job of staying true to the biblical story while narrowing it down to a level that young kids can understand and still glean the power of Jesus.

The stories included in this book are as follows:

- The House that Went Splat Matthew 7

- The Boy Who Shared His Sandwich John 6

- The Best Thing to Do Luke 10

- How Can I Pray? Luke 11

- The Dad Who Never Gave Up Luke 15

- Never Too Little Mark 10

- The Man Who Would Not Be Quiet Mark 10

- The Easter Fix Luke 22-24

What I really appreciated was the culmination of the first seven stories leading into the crucifixion and resurrection of Jesus - the ultimate sacrifice for our salvation and the only reason we are able to receive forgiveness and join Jesus in heaven some day.

Each story concludes with two sections:

- Notes for Older Readers: Williams dedicates one page to providing a bit more depth to the story for those readers who might desire and have the ability to handle it

- Scripture Reference: the specific scripture passage for each story written out in full

This is a wonderful addition to any devotional library for young kids that will introduce them to Scripture and the love of Jesus.

I received a copy of this book from The Good Book Company in exchange for an honest review.

“Excellent Hardback Compilation of Storybooks”

We really enjoy these storybooks because they're great for the youngest children, explaining to them some key stories from the life of Jesus. We were very excited that this collection is available in a hardback book as it's not only a great gift but it also makes an excellent addition to our church kids' library. The one extra thing that makes us love these books is that there is a simple "notes for older readers" section after each story. These can be used to add a bit of depth to the story for older children but we've also found that they've been helpful for parents who aren't confident in their own faith too, helping them to understand the story they are explaining to their children. We'd definitely recommend it!

“Great Way to Have Devotions With Little Kids”

I've been a huge fan of Steph Williams' Little Me, Big God series of books since there were only three such stories. Every time Steph Williams comes out with a new book, I preorder it. So, I preordered this one too,

When my oldest was 2 or 3, I was looking for a way to do devotions with her. I've found this book series to be a great way to share scripture with my kids. Ms. Williams' stories stick close to the Bible passage she derives them from. She does a great job of bringing the story to the level of young children, while keeping the central point of the passage prominent. And the pictures and the text of the books, make it easy to read to your little ones with a lot of emotion.

Two of my kids are legally blind, and so I was particularly struck by her story of Bartimaeus. I love how her story speaks to all ages that Bartimaeus' loud cry to Jesus should be each of our response to him once we realize our own need and who Jesus is.

Each of her stories has a Bible passage at the end. This is the best part. I read the Bible passage too--even for my kids as young as 2 and 3. If you read them often enough--and with feeling--don't be surprised if they memorize even the scripture passage. My oldest did that at 3 or 4 years old.

One of the advantages of this book series is that the books are compact, which is great for travelling.

The individual books are pretty sturdy (for paper), but they do get beat up with use. (At one point we were reading them every day.) So, I'm so excited that they put 8 of her stories into this single hardbound book! It still keeps its lower profile for travel, but I expect it'll last a little longer than the individual books do.

So, if you have little kids or if you want to encourage parents of little kids to have devotions with them, buy this book.
